The audit management software of the Ministry of Industries has been launched to increase transparency, accountability and dynamism in the financial sector. This is the first such initiative among government departments in Bangladesh. The software was inaugurated by Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on Sunday (January 9th) in the conference room of the Industries Ministry in Dhaka. Speaking as the chief guest, the Industries Minister said that the introduction of audit management software of the Ministry of Industries is a timely step. As a result, a user can easily find out where an audit objection is pending by using this software. He will then be able to take action accordingly. That means we went ahead of the others. The minister also hoped that the software would play a role in maintaining economic order and reducing corruption as part of the implementation of Digital Bangladesh announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder and Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury addressed the function as special guest while Industries Secretary Zakia Sultana presided over the event Abul Kalam Azad, Director General, Department of Commerce Audit; Mrityunjay Saha, Joint Secretary, Department of Financial Institutions; Rubaiyat Mahbub, Managing Director, Entrance Logic Systems expressed their views in the program. Relevant officials of the Ministry of Industries and departments/agencies were also present at the time. Speaking as the special guest, State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Majumder said, "Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman said, 'Corruption cannot be stopped by law alone. At the same time the system has to be changed. Containing this message in mind, the replacement of audit management software with the current manual approach in the Ministry of Industry is a landmark step. He further said that the replacement of audit management software would help in speedy disposal of audit objections of the Ministry of Industries and its agencies. He called upon the corporations under the Ministry of Industries to uplift to a profitable level and fulfill their responsibilities in implementing the policies and norms of the government with honesty, accountability and sincerity. Speaking as the special guest, Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh Mohammad Muslim Chowdhury said that audit management activities are still being conducted in government offices manually in Bangladesh. Manual audits take a lot of time to resolve objections. In most cases, the audit objections are not properly preserved and the audit objections remain unresolved year after year. Moreover, since the audit objections are raised at the field level till the final issuance, on the one hand, it takes a long time, on the other hand, the reports are unreadable / obscure, so it is not possible to decipher them properly. As a result, audit objections are disposed of. It was informed on the occasion that there are about 248 audit offices under the Ministry of Industries and 13 departments / agencies under it. As of December 2021, the total number of audit objections is 4,869. Of these, 1,661 are general, 2,812 are advance, 65 are draft and 331 are compiled. The total amount against all the audit objections is about 30 thousand crores taka.
